The Jacob Van Heemskerck-class frigate, an air defense platform of the Royal Netherlands Navy, was designed from the Kortenaer class with enhanced anti-air capabilities and a robust missile defense system. Comprising two ships transferred to the Chilean Navy in 2005, they featured a COGAG propulsion system, various missile launchers, and advanced radar systems, with later upgrades improving their operational effectiveness.
