The Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) is a versatile hovercraft used by the U.S. Navy and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force for transporting personnel and equipment from ships to shore, with a cargo capacity of 1,809 square feet and a payload of up to 60 short tons. Developed in the 1980s and set to be replaced by the Ship-to-Shore Connector, the LCAC has undergone a Service Life Extension Program to enhance its longevity and capabilities.
