The Medium Endurance Cutter (WMEC) classification in the U.S. Coast Guard includes the 270-foot Famous-class and 210-foot Reliance-class vessels, designed for 6 to 8 week patrols. Currently, there are 13 active Famous-class and 14 Reliance-class cutters, with plans to replace them with the Offshore Patrol Cutter, while the Famous-class incorporates weapons from decommissioned frigates to extend their service life into the 2030s.
