Saudi-led coalition claims interception of Houthi missiles and drones from Yemen
The spokesperson for the Saudi Arabia-led multinational coalition, Turki Al-Maliki, stated on social media on the 1st that the coalition intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles launched by the Houthi forces from Yemen towards the southwestern Saudi cities of Khamis Mushait and Jazan, as well as four drones aimed at Khamis Mushait.
Al-Maliki also mentioned that the coalition continues to take operational measures to deter the Houthi forces in Yemen.
The Saudi Civil Defense Authority issued a statement on the same day, indicating that the Civil Defense Department in Khamis Mushait dealt with an incident involving debris from a Houthi ballistic missile that fell in a residential area after being intercepted, causing damage to several buildings and some vehicles.
Additionally, according to a statement by Al-Maliki on social media that day, the Houthi forces used drones to attack a distribution station in Medina, Saudi Arabia, on September 29, resulting in one transformer ceasing operation, but it did not affect the power grid's operation. The statement noted that investigations by relevant authorities and evidence such as drone wreckage indicated that the Houthi forces planned and executed this attack.
On September 16, Al-Maliki disclosed that the Saudi air defense forces intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone heading towards Mecca the previous night. A member of the Houthi political bureau, Hizam Al-Asadi, stated on social media the same day that the allegations regarding the Houthi forces using drones to attack Mecca were "lies."
