On September 22 local time, Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Mariusz Błaszczak stated on social media that a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft was intercepted by Polish fighter jets approximately 40 kilometers off the coast of Poland. Błaszczak emphasized that the appearance of the Russian reconnaissance aircraft over the Baltic Sea is not an isolated incident, and the Polish military will remain on alert.
