军事专家 张军社：“海上猛虎艇”浴血海疆勇立奇功，创造了人民海军近战夜战小艇打大舰的经典战例，锻造了以英勇顽强敢打必胜为核心的“海上猛虎精神”。半个多世纪以来，五代“海上猛虎艇”作战能力实现了从近岸游击到近海和远海作战的跨越，成为人民海军装备的第一种区域防空型导弹护卫舰，具有较强的远程警戒和防空作战能力，
既可依托32单元垂直发射系统与中程防空导弹，构建区域防空屏障，也可实施远海反舰反潜作战，可单独或融入航母编队或两栖打击群，承担防空、反舰、反潜和对陆支援等多样化作战任务。
其续航力从早期炮艇的约700海里拓展至4000海里以上。
五代“海上猛虎艇”的发展折射出人民海军从近岸防御到近海防御和远海防卫战略转型的发展轨迹，见证了人民海军70多年来由小到大，由弱到强的发展历程。
