According to the PLA Daily, Sun Fei and reporter Qian Xiaohu report: The People's Navy destroyer family has recently welcomed new members: the two new "10,000-ton destroyers" with hull numbers 109 and 110 have officially entered combat training, adding new strength to China's independently developed 10,000-ton destroyer series. As important equipment for carrying out offshore defense and diverse military tasks, the new 10,000-ton destroyers have formed scalable and systematic combat capabilities, becoming a steel pillar for safeguarding national maritime rights and protecting the country's vast maritime territory.

As a milestone equipment in the development history of the People's Navy destroyers, the 055-type 10,000-ton destroyer has a full-load displacement of over 12,000 tons, equipped with a universal vertical launch system that can launch multiple types of munitions, possessing strong air defense, anti-ship, anti-submarine, land strike, and comprehensive command capabilities. It is undoubtedly the "armed escort" of the aircraft carrier formation, representing the advanced level of large destroyers in the world today.

In recent years, on the front lines of major mission tasks such as offshore deployment, combat readiness patrols, and responding to complex maritime and aerial situations, the "10,000-ton destroyers" have bravely taken on heavy responsibilities and frequently made appearances—leading naval formations to venture out beyond the first island chain multiple times, conducting high-intensity live-fire confrontation exercises in the western Pacific; coordinating with aircraft carrier formations to advance into the open ocean, completing cross-day-and-night, multi-subject, and all-element joint combat training, with core capabilities such as long-range strikes and air defense missile interception being comprehensively tested; participating in joint military exercises with foreign countries, humanitarian rescue operations, and international maritime security cooperation tasks, demonstrating strong multi-task adaptability with excellent combat effectiveness and conduct.

Since the commissioning of the first ship of the 055-type destroyer, the Nanchang, in early 2020, the People's Navy large destroyers have achieved a leap from non-existence to existence, from few to many, and from "single ship formation" to "systematic victory" in just a few years. The scalable deployment and systematic application of the "10,000-ton destroyers" not only marks a dual leap in both quantity and quality of the Navy's main combat equipment but also reflects a new transformation in the Navy's system combat and offshore combat concepts, significantly enhancing the People's Navy's ability to carry out diverse military tasks in distant seas and regions, providing solid equipment support for resolutely safeguarding national sovereignty, security, and development interests, and injecting continuous Chinese strength into maintaining regional peace, stability, and global maritime security.
