The UH-72 Lakota is a U.S. Army light utility helicopter derived from the Airbus/Eurocopter EC145. It was selected as a commercial-off-the-shelf solution to replace older utility helicopters in homeland, training, support, and non-combat missions.
Lakota missions include pilot training, medical evacuation, disaster response, border/security support, and general utility transport. The aircraft is not optimized for high-threat combat assault, but its reliability and low operating burden make it useful across Army and National Guard fleets.
