E-7 Wedgetail

The E-7 Wedgetail is an airborne early warning and control aircraft derived from the Boeing 737 family and developed first for Australia. It replaced the older rotating-dome model with a fixed Multi-Role Electronically Scanned Array radar mounted above the fuselage. The design shows how commercial airframes can be adapted into modern command-and-control aircraft.

Royal Australian Air Force material describes the E-7A as able to coordinate joint air, sea, and land battle in real time, with MESA radar and mission consoles for battle managers.
