Kilic

The Kılıç class is a Turkish Navy fast attack craft or missile boat class. Naval Analyses describes it as a Kılıç I/II fast attack craft class in Turkish service, while Seaforces lists the vessels as fast attack craft rather than corvettes. The current corvette category overstates the class size and role; it is better understood as a missile-armed FAC.

Fast attack craft are optimized for short, sharp engagements and coastal operations. Kılıç-class vessels combine speed, anti-ship missiles, guns, and sensors in a relatively small hull. That makes them useful in the Aegean, Black Sea, and Eastern Mediterranean operating context, where geography can favor fast missile craft supported by shore-based surveillance.

Kılıç-class craft are valuable when they can use speed, coastal clutter, and missile salvos to complicate enemy surface movement. Their weaknesses are endurance, sea-keeping, air-defense depth, and vulnerability to aircraft, drones, and submarines. The class should be assessed as a littoral denial platform rather than a blue-water combatant.
