Suffren

Suffren was developed by Naval Group as the lead submarine of France's new nuclear-powered attack submarine class, also known as Barracuda. The program was created to replace the older Rubis-class SSNs with a larger, quieter, more capable platform. Naval Group delivered Suffren to the French defence procurement agency in 2020, and French official material describes the type as bringing capabilities available to only a small number of nations. It is one of France's most important naval modernization programs.

Suffren-class submarines are designed for a wider mission set than the Rubis generation.
