LAROM

LAROM is a Romanian multiple launch rocket system developed through cooperation with Israeli industry and based around LAR-160 technology integrated onto Romanian launcher vehicles. Army Recognition describes LAROM as an LAR-160 multiple rocket launcher, while Military Today identifies it as a Romanian MLRS capable of firing both 122 mm and 160 mm rockets. The MRL category is appropriate.

LAROM's important feature is flexibility. It can use 122 mm rockets associated with older Grad-style stocks and 160 mm rockets for heavier or longer-range missions depending on launcher configuration. This lets an operator modernize fire-control and targeting while preserving some existing ammunition and logistics infrastructure.

The system gives Romania a more capable rocket-artillery tool while reducing the cost and disruption of full replacement. Its combat value depends on reconnaissance, fire-control data, rocket inventory, and shoot-and-scoot discipline. It is most effective as part of a broader artillery and ISR network.
