MSG-90

The Heckler & Koch MSG90 was introduced in the late 1980s as a military sniper rifle derived from the PSG1 precision-rifle lineage. The PSG1 was highly accurate but heavy and police-oriented, so the MSG90 sought to retain precision while improving field practicality. It gave users a semi-automatic 7.62 mm precision rifle suitable for military marksman and sniper roles where rapid follow-up shots were valuable.

Technically, the MSG90 is a semi-automatic 7.62 x 51 mm NATO precision rifle based on H&K's roller-delayed design family. It uses a precision barrel, adjustable stock elements, optics mounting, and a configuration intended to be lighter and more rugged than the PSG1. Its role sits between a designated marksman rifle and a dedicated sniper rifle, offering faster follow-up fire than bolt-action systems while retaining useful accuracy.

Operationally, the MSG90 provides precision support for military and security forces that need a durable semi-automatic rifle. It can support overwatch, perimeter defense, and designated marksman missions while retaining the ability to engage multiple targets quickly.
