High-altitude attack helicopter
The HAL Light Combat Helicopter, named Prachand, is India's indigenous attack helicopter designed with high-altitude operations in mind.
The Light Combat Helicopter was developed to provide India with an armed rotorcraft suited to difficult terrain and high-altitude operating conditions. It draws on technology and experience from the Dhruv programme but is shaped around attack, armed reconnaissance, escort, and close-support missions. Its emphasis on altitude performance reflects India's operational geography.
