Research Notes

Anti-armour-focused tactical loitering munition

medium

Hero-120 was developed as a heavier tactical member of the Hero family for armoured and high-value battlefield targets.

Hero-120 occupies an important middle position in UVision's Hero family: heavier and more destructive than man-portable micro systems, but still tactical enough for mobile ground forces. It has attracted attention from NATO and U.S.-aligned users because it offers a reusable concept of reconnaissance, target confirmation, and precision attack in one munition. Its development reflects modern demand for organic anti-armour effects at lower echelons.

Portable anti-tank loitering munition with controlled abort

medium

The system combines a larger warhead, electro-optical seeker, loitering flight, and operator control through the engagement cycle.

Hero-120 is designed for targets such as armoured vehicles, air-defence equipment, command posts, and other high-value battlefield assets. Its larger payload gives it more destructive effect than Hero-30 or Hero-70, while its loitering capability lets the operator verify the target before impact and abort or re-attack when conditions change. This makes it operationally different from a conventional anti-tank missile fired on a single immediate line of sight.

Organic precision fire for mobile ground forces

medium

Hero-120 is useful when units need anti-armour reach, target confirmation, and reduced dependence on aircraft or artillery.

Operationally, Hero-120 supports dispersed ground forces, vehicle teams, and special operations units that need precision strike beyond direct fire range. It can be launched from different platforms and integrated with reconnaissance or command systems. Its key constraints are electromagnetic vulnerability, airspace coordination, weather, and the legal and tactical burden of maintaining positive target identification before strike.
