Research Notes

Smallest tactical member of the Hero family

medium

Hero-30 was designed to give small units a rapidly deployable loitering strike and reconnaissance option.

The Hero-30 is one of the lightest members of UVision's Hero loitering-munition family. It was developed for tactical units that need a portable system able to search, identify, and engage a target beyond direct line of sight. Its place in the family is at the small-unit end: less payload and endurance than larger Hero models, but easier carriage, faster deployment, and lower logistical burden.

Man-portable tube-launched precision munition

medium

The system is optimized for low weight, quick setup, electro-optical control, and operator-in-the-loop engagement.

Hero-30 uses the core loitering-munition concept: launch from a compact system, fly to a target area, loiter while searching, and strike under operator control. Its smaller airframe and warhead make it appropriate for personnel, light vehicles, and exposed equipment rather than hardened targets. The ability to observe before impact gives it more tactical flexibility than a simple fire-and-forget rocket.

Platoon and company-level precision strike option

medium

Hero-30 is useful when small units need organic reconnaissance and a limited strike effect without calling larger fires.

Operationally, Hero-30 fits dismounted infantry, special operations, and light forces that need a portable precision effect. It can support ambush disruption, target confirmation, and engagement of fleeting soft targets. Its constraints are payload size, weather sensitivity, electromagnetic conditions, and the need for trained operators who can manage target identification and abort decisions.
