Research Notes

Extended-capability heavy tactical Hero variant

medium

Hero-400EC was developed to provide longer loiter time and stronger effects against larger or more valuable targets.

Hero-400EC is one of the larger members of the Hero family and is aimed at missions that require more endurance and payload than small-unit loitering munitions can provide. The EC suffix is commonly associated with extended capability, and open descriptions emphasize longer loitering, post-launch control, and the ability to collect intelligence or conduct battle damage assessment as well as strike.

Heavy loitering munition with re-attack and abort flexibility

medium

The system is intended for larger targets, longer endurance, and controlled engagement decisions during flight.

Hero-400EC uses the same broad concept as other Hero systems but at a larger scale. It can remain in the target area longer, carry a more significant warhead, and support operator decisions such as aborting a strike, returning to loiter, or re-engaging. These features are important when target identification, collateral-damage avoidance, and mobile-target timing are operational priorities.

Precision strike against high-value battlefield assets

medium

Hero-400EC is suited to vehicles, air-defence assets, command nodes, and other targets that justify a heavier munition.

Operationally, Hero-400EC supports forces that need a persistent precision-strike option without immediately committing aircraft or conventional missiles. It can attack high-value mobile or relocatable targets after observation and confirmation. Its use requires more planning than smaller systems, including launch platform selection, communications management, airspace coordination, and rules-of-engagement discipline.
