Bionix was developed by Singapore Technologies Automotive for the Singapore Armed Forces as a locally designed tracked infantry fighting vehicle. It was created to replace and supplement older M113-type vehicles while meeting Singapore's specific operational requirements. The programme was a major step in Singapore's domestic armored-vehicle engineering capability.
Bionix combines tracked mobility, infantry carriage, and turreted fire support in a compact design.
Bionix variants include turreted 25 mm cannon versions and 40/50 weapon configurations, combining infantry carriage with direct-fire support. The vehicle balances compact size, protection, and firepower for Singapore's terrain and force structure. Later Bionix II improvements added better protection, firepower, and battlefield management integration.
