Survey aircraft from the An-24 family
The An-30 was developed from the An-24 as a dedicated aerial survey and cartography aircraft.
The An-30, NATO reporting name Clank, is a specialized branch of the An-24 transport family. Antonov describes it as an aerial survey aircraft built around photographic and observation tasks rather than ordinary passenger or cargo service. Its development reflected Soviet needs for mapping, resource survey, ice patrol, and state infrastructure work across a huge territory where aerial photography could support both civilian planning and military cartography.
