mediumThe rifle helped mainstream chassis-style long-range precision features in a production bolt-action package.
The Ruger Precision Rifle was introduced as a factory long-range bolt-action rifle aimed at the same precision-shooting niche that had previously required extensive aftermarket chassis work. Ruger combined a bolt-action receiver with an in-line recoil path, adjustable stock geometry, AR-pattern ergonomic interfaces, and a cold-hammer-forged barrel. That made it commercially important because it moved chassis-style precision features into a relatively accessible production rifle instead of leaving them as custom builds.
