At 9:14 AM on December 9, 2025

After completing a 13-hour night duty

Law enforcement officer Qiao Helin

received a report of suspicious activity

indicating a suspected smuggling speedboat was approaching

Qiao Helin immediately applied to go for the interception

An illegally modified high-powered smuggling speedboat

was racing towards the duty point loaded with goods

Qiao Helin shouted for the vessel to stop and submit to inspection

But the smuggling boat not only did not stop

but instead accelerated to flee

attempting to shake off the pursuit through dangerous maneuvers

At 9:22 AM

the smuggling boat suddenly maliciously slowed down and sharply turned

colliding with the law enforcement vessel

causing the law enforcement vessel to spin 360 degrees in the air

Pang Zhiqing was rescued by the rescue department after losing consciousness

After 55 hours of intensive search and rescue

Qiao Helin was confirmed to have sacrificed heroically

Following Qiao Helin's investigation of the smuggling boat leads

23 suspects were arrested

When Qiao Helin had just graduated from the Coast Guard Academy

he applied three times

to serve on the front line of anti-smuggling

In July 2023

he arrived in Fangchenggang, Guangxi

In more than two years

Qiao Helin traversed every inch of the coastline in his jurisdiction

According to statistics

Qiao Helin participated in over 170 maritime patrol missions

and took part in 56 operations against maritime smuggling crimes

rescuing 4 distressed vessels and 89 fishermen

In life, he was always considerate

cooking for his comrades and mending clothes

His comrades said:

“The day before going out to sea

he gave me a handmade pendant

with the words ‘peace’ embroidered by him

He said it was a talisman for my safety”

After Qiao Helin's sacrifice

the Coast Guard, in conjunction with public security agencies

followed the leads left by Qiao Helin in the investigation of the smuggling boat

deeply digging and expanding the case

taking down a cross-province smuggling gang

and arresting 23 criminal suspects

seizing smuggled goods valued at approximately 3 million yuan

On February 6, 2026

Qiao Helin

was posthumously recognized as a martyr

by the South China Sea Branch of the China Coast Guard

and awarded a first-class merit
