China Launches Secret Robot Offensive Against Russia

According to a report by Reference News on September 29, the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph reported on September 26 that late at night, a Ukrainian drone flew over the northern front line of Donetsk. This was one of about 100 drones that crossed the border that day. But this was not an ordinary drone: it was carrying another device underneath, namely a wheeled small robot loaded with explosives.

According to reports, this cargo drone flew over the Ukrainian front line, penetrating at least 10 miles (about 16 kilometers) into Russian-controlled territory, and then dropped its payload to the ground.

After landing, the deployed remote-controlled wheeled robot immediately sprang into action, searching for Russian soldiers lying in ambush and ready to attack Ukraine, and then detonated its own payload.

Reports indicate that the Ukrainian Third Corps cleared a deadly ambush point without deploying any ground troops.

The unit commander told reporters that no other military has yet achieved operations involving the deployment of ground robots behind enemy lines.

However, airdropping is the relatively easy part: getting a machine across the front line requires electronic jamming, artillery cover, and the cover of night. This shows how far Ukraine is willing to go to reduce direct infantry involvement on the battlefield.

Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) are remote-controlled robots equipped with wheels or tracks. Most of these devices are "unremarkable": they are often small flatbed carriers that transport ammunition, food, batteries, and wounded personnel along routes that are too dangerous for humans.

Some models, such as the equipment used by the Third Corps, are equipped with heavy machine guns or filled with explosives, driving directly into Russian positions.

The commander of the Second Mechanized Battalion of the Third Corps, codenamed "Darwin," explained that getting this UGV, referred to as "Griffin" by Ukrainian soldiers, across the front line in Donetsk is the challenging part.

The drone capable of lifting this robot is relatively large and easily detectable by Russian forces, and it can be shot down with just a machine gun. Therefore, Darwin's team is working to make it stealthy.

Ukrainian forces used electronic warfare to jam Russian reconnaissance drones, preventing Russian personnel from detecting the equipment's crossing operation.
