The manual application of camouflage patterns to military vehicles is traditionally a time-consuming and error-prone process. To optimize these workflows, SZENARIS has developed an innovative augmented reality application on behalf of GDELS. The software projects the exact contours of the camouflage pattern directly onto the vehicle surface via AR glasses. This significantly simplifies the precise marking and preparation of the painting process.
The system utilizes a straightforward QR code calibration: after scanning, the application automatically loads the specific 3D vehicle model, including the matching contours. Additional visual aids, such as letter codes for the individual color fields (e.g., “B” for brown, “S” for black), safely guide the user through the process.
Modular Design for Diverse Painting Tasks
Thanks to its modular architecture, the software can be flexibly adapted to different vehicle types, painting patterns, and even variable components—such as adjustable angles of moving parts.
The deployment of this AR technology standardizes manufacturing quality, minimizes waste, and noticeably accelerates production cycles. As a result, the solution marks a major step toward digital transformation in industrial defense technology.
