EU Officials: The EU Needs to Deploy More Forces for Red Sea Escort Operations
The EU defense ministers' meeting was held on September 28 local time in Brussels, Belgium. After the meeting, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Borrell stated that the Strait of Hormuz, the Strait of Malacca, and the Black Sea are all important maritime passages, and the EU needs to deploy more forces for the Red Sea escort operation to enhance maritime security.
