Finnish drone electronics maker raises $2.8M in five days
Finnish drone electronics maker Arctic RAVN has secured €2.5 million (about $2.8 million) in convertible loan commitments in five days, passing its €2 million (about $2.2 million) target before it has officially launched a single product, and it plans to use the money to scale up production of the circuit boards that power and steer military drones.
The company said on Oct. 27, 2026, that it opened the round in October and that the financing will go toward ramping up manufacturing and product development, as it already holds follow-up orders and is in talks with several leading European defense manufacturers.
Arctic RAVN builds electronic speed controllers, the boards that regulate power to a drone’s motors, and flight controllers, the onboard computers that keep the aircraft stable and carry out its pilot’s commands, and it says every product is designed and manufactured in Finland with components sourced entirely from Europe and NATO-allied countries.
“Investors committed to the round within days, even though we have not yet officially launched a single product. Follow-up orders and discussions with several leading defence manufacturers indicate a need for high-performance European drone electronics. We are now scaling our manufacturing capabilities for industrial-level output and strengthening Europe’s ability to produce critical drone electronics,” said Matti Vansén, chief executive of Arctic RAVN.
The company has already put more than €1 million (about $1.1 million) into scaling up production of its speed controllers and aims to build tens of thousands of units by the end of 2026, with a significant share already reserved by customers, before shifting its next production ramp-up to flight controllers and, over the longer term, expanding capacity to as many as two million circuit boards a year.
Its current lineup includes the AR41ESC, a four-in-one speed controller that runs on 6S to 12S lithium-polymer batteries and handles at least 60 amps of continuous current per channel, with 90-amp bursts, and the AR32FC flight controller, which accepts 4S to 14S battery input, carries two inertial measurement units and runs custom firmware.
Arctic RAVN is one of the studio companies of Finnish Defence House, a defense technology venture studio that finds, funds and builds new companies, and it joins a growing number of Finnish firms working on military drones, including Summa Defence, which delivered its first batch of Zeus FPV drones to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in December 2025.
