German defense giant to collaborate with Boeing to supply drones to the German military
On March 31 local time, Germany's largest defense contractor Rheinmetall announced that it has reached a cooperation agreement with Boeing Australia Defense to provide drones to the German military.
The agreement involves the MQ-28 "Ghost Bat" drone, which is being developed by Boeing Australia Defense for the Royal Australian Air Force. Rheinmetall's CEO Armin Papperger stated that the "Ghost Bat" delivered to Germany will be a customized version to better meet the needs of the Bundeswehr.
According to the agreement, the Bundeswehr is expected to begin equipping this type of drone in 2029. Rheinmetall is responsible for integrating the "Ghost Bat" into the German military's equipment systems and will handle subsequent maintenance work.
