In 1926, Qiu Shaoyun was born in

His parents passed away early, leaving four brothers to struggle

In 1949, Qiu Shaoyun resolutely joined the People's Liberation Army of China

After the outbreak of the Korean War

Qiu Shaoyun rushed to the battlefield in Korea

On the way, he wrote a letter to his family

This was also his only letter home

“When I reach the battlefield, I will fight desperately, not afraid of death

So that all the suffering people

can live a good life

What does it matter if I die?”

In October 1952, the unit Qiu Shaoyun was in

Was tasked with attacking Height 391 west of Jinhu

After reconnaissance

The volunteers found a patch of wild grass on the open ground

If they lay still in it

The enemy would not notice at all

They decided to send a commando team

To lie in ambush just a few dozen meters from the enemy position the night before

And then launch a surprise attack during the general offensive the next day

This meant

The attacking troops had to lie in ambush under the enemy's nose

Qiu Shaoyun found he was not in the first echelon of the ambush

One day before the battle
