IDF Chief of Staff Inspects Rafah Area in Gaza, Says IDF is Ready to Transition to Offensive
On the 13th local time, the Israel Defense Forces issued a statement indicating that IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi visited the Rafah area in the Gaza Strip for an on-site inspection and assessed the current situation together with several commanders from the IDF Southern Command and the Gaza Division.
The statement noted that during the inspection, Halevi stated that the IDF had "destroyed all of Hamas's frontline combat camps" during the war and claimed that Hamas had "been defeated militarily." He pointed out that the IDF is currently deployed along the "Yellow Line," responsible for overseeing the crossing points into Gaza, and is continuously dismantling local armed infrastructure.
Halevi stated that the IDF is prepared to shift from a defensive posture to an offensive posture if necessary and will "respond to any violations of the ceasefire." He emphasized that the IDF will not abandon the goal of "disarming Hamas and achieving the demilitarization of the Gaza Strip." He also announced that the IDF has recently formed the 38th Division to further enhance ground combat capabilities. (CCTV reporter Zhao Bing)
