Israeli company Elbit has unveiled a system it claims will dramatically enhance the mission capability of advanced fighter aircraft. The EO DAS (Electro-Optical Distributed Aperture System) solution is, according to the degsituational awareness, survivability, and mission effectiveness capabilities to fourth-generation platforms.

Based on Elbit Systems’ combat-proven IR-based Missile Warning System (MWS), the EO DAS leverages a 360° infrared sensor suite combined with AI-based video processing and the company’s POWER SCAN technology to generate a real-time panoramic view of the battlespace surrounding the aircraft.  According to Elbit, the system transforms visual data into actionable tactical intelligence, enabling pilots to operate more effectively in complex and contested environments, including A2/AD scenarios. The integrated tactical picture is displayed through an intuitive helmet-mounted interface, supporting enhanced situational awareness while reducing pilot workload.

The Israeli company says that the EO DAS enables a broad range of operational applications, including missile launch detection, 360° short-range IRST capabilities, low-altitude terrain following and terrain avoidance, collision avoidance, GPS denial, and bomb damage assessment. Integrated with Elbit Systems’ advanced helmet-mounted display technologies, the system also supports automatic target cueing and real-time threat visualisation directly on the pilot’s visor, providing an operational experience associated with fifth-generation combat aircraft.
