According to reporters, starting from the early morning of August 29 local time, multiple areas in Niamey, the capital of Niger, have reported continuous gunfire and explosions. Sources say that armed militants attacked the city's Diori Hamani International Airport and attempted to breach the security perimeter around the presidential palace.

Local residents revealed that intense gun battles and explosions occurred near the Niamey 101 Air Base. This base is closely linked to Diori Hamani International Airport. The airport has faced attacks from extremist groups and armed militants twice this year, in January and June.

Bana Wagana Ibrahim, a member of the Sahel States Alliance and the Niger National Transitional Council, stated on social media that the attackers targeted the 101 Air Base, but Niger's security forces have controlled the situation. Currently, the Nigerien government and military have not confirmed these claims. (Reporter He Beiping)
