Xinhua News Agency, Tehran, June 3 - The Iranian military stated late on the night of the 3rd that the Iranian Navy had just launched an attack on a U.S. Navy destroyer in the Gulf of Oman, targeting the command and control center located on the ship that was conducting hostile actions against Iran.
The U.S. Central Command later posted on social media, denying the Iranian claims, stating, "U.S. maritime military forces are currently conducting flight, navigation, and various operations safely and without obstruction."
According to a report by the Iranian Tasnim News Agency citing the Iranian military statement, the U.S. military had recently taken "aggressive" actions against Iranian merchant ships in the Gulf of Oman and violated relevant regulations in the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian Navy, after detecting and confirming the target, struck the relevant command and control center located on the destroyer.
The statement indicated that the ship was attempting to approach Iranian waters in the Gulf of Oman at that time.
The statement emphasized that the Iranian Navy is continuously monitoring enemy activities and will take retaliatory actions regarding the attack on the "Dena." The Iranian armed forces will respond swiftly to any hostile actions against Iran.
