Iran reports: Bushehr nuclear power plant attacked for the third time in 10 days

Xinhua News Agency, Vienna/Tehran, March 28 - The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced late on the 27th that it had received a report from Iran indicating that the Bushehr nuclear power plant was attacked again that day, marking the third attack on the plant within ten days. Iranian media reported early on the 28th that no damage to the nuclear power plant had been found, and there were no reports of casualties.

The IAEA stated on social media that according to the Iranian report, the operating reactor was not damaged, and there was no radiation leak; the condition of the nuclear power plant was normal.

The IAEA expressed deep concern once again regarding the recent military activities near the nuclear power plant, as stated by its Director General Grossi. He pointed out that if the reactor were damaged, it could trigger a significant radiological accident. He continued to call on all parties to exercise maximum military restraint to avoid the risk of a nuclear accident.

Iran's Nour News Agency reported that the Bushehr nuclear power plant was attacked on the night of the 27th. This nuclear power plant is operational and stores a large amount of radioactive material, and any attack on it could lead to a serious nuclear accident, causing irreparable consequences for the surrounding areas. Attacks by the United States and Israel on facilities for the peaceful use of nuclear energy violate international law and pose a serious security threat to the region.
