Xinhua News Agency, Beirut/Damascus, April 4 (Reporter Cao Changhao, Lin Jianjie) The Israeli military issued an emergency warning on the evening of April 4, stating that the Israeli forces are about to conduct airstrikes on the Maisna border crossing on the Lebanese side of the Lebanon-Syria border, urging nearby residents to evacuate. Syria announced the temporary closure of the crossing on the Syrian side.

The Israeli military stated that Hezbollah is using the Maisna crossing for military activities and smuggling weapons, demanding that Lebanese residents immediately evacuate the crossing and surrounding areas.

A Lebanese security source told Xinhua that, due to the threat from the Israeli military, two-way traffic at the Maisna crossing has been suspended, and personnel and cargo trucks are retreating to the Lebanese side.

The Maisna crossing is a vital transportation route connecting the capitals of Lebanon and Syria, Beirut and Damascus. Israeli warplanes conducted airstrikes around this crossing in October 2024, cutting off the international highway.

The Syrian Transitional Government's Ports and Customs Authority issued a statement that evening, announcing the temporary closure of the Jaidet Abus crossing on the Syrian side. The statement emphasized that this crossing is exclusively for civilian passage, not for any military purposes, and that there are no armed groups or militias present, nor is it allowed to be used for any activities beyond civil and legal frameworks.

Additionally, the Lebanese National News Agency reported on the 4th that Israel launched multiple airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut and several areas in southern Lebanon that day, resulting in at least 14 deaths and 25 injuries. The Lebanese Ministry of Health stated that since the resumption of hostilities between Lebanon and Israel on March 2, Israeli attacks on Lebanon have resulted in 1,422 deaths and 4,294 injuries.
