Xinhua News Agency, Jerusalem, August 24 (Reporter Chen Junqing, Feng Guorui) The Israel Defense Forces and the Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet) issued a joint statement on the 24th, stating that the Israeli military struck two weapon depots of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the Gaza Strip on that day.

The statement said that the aforementioned weapon depots are located in the Shati and Deir al-Balah areas, both situated within mosques, containing dozens of rifles, magazines, and other military equipment.

Earlier on the 24th, the Israeli military reported that it had killed two Hamas militants in the Deir al-Balah area during the early hours of the day, and stated that it would continue operations to eliminate "any imminent threats."

Jared Kushner, U.S. President Trump's son-in-law, and members of the "Peace Committee" for the Gaza Strip met with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu in Jerusalem on the 17th of this month, aiming to further advance the so-called "Gaza Peace Plan." According to Israeli media reports, although the U.S. and Israel are seeking to promote a broader plan for the reconstruction of Gaza and the disarmament of Hamas, the U.S. still allows Israel to "temporarily" continue targeted strikes in the Gaza Strip.
