Israeli Army Claims to Have Killed Several Senior Members of Hamas Security Agency
Xinhua News Agency, Jerusalem, June 4 (Reporter Wang Zhuolun, Pang Xinyi) The Israel Defense Forces and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) issued a joint statement on the 4th, stating that the Israeli military conducted airstrikes in the northern Gaza Strip on the evening of the 4th, killing several senior members of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) security agency.
The statement said that the deceased included Hassan Rabah, the deputy head of the Hamas security agency, as well as three other senior Hamas members: Asem Shubel, Abdullah Abu Kalub, and Muhammad Abu Mark.
The Israeli military stated that the Hamas security agency is a core secret organization responsible for protecting senior Hamas leaders, maintaining internal communications, coordinating high-level meetings, and providing intelligence assessments. The individuals killed were key figures in this agency and played important roles in the decision-making system. They had recently participated in restructuring the Hamas organizational framework and assisted its leadership in planning attacks against Israel and the Israeli military, thus being designated as targets for elimination.
The Israeli military stated that forces under its Southern Command are still deployed in the relevant areas and will continue to take action to eliminate what they call "direct threats."
Hamas has not yet responded to this.
