Lebanese President: Israel's Complete Ceasefire is a Prerequisite for Starting Negotiations
Xinhua News Agency, Beirut, April 29 (Reporter Shen Feng) - Lebanese President Aoun stated on the 29th that the Lebanese government is making every effort to resolve the current situation through negotiations, and a complete ceasefire by Israel is a prerequisite for initiating talks.
During a meeting with a delegation of economic institutions, Aoun expressed that Israel mistakenly believes it can achieve its own security through invading or attacking southern Lebanese border villages, but "this is wrong and will have no effect."
Aoun emphasized that Israel must recognize that the only way to achieve security is through negotiations, but the prerequisite is a complete ceasefire, after which the negotiation process can begin.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced on the 29th that since the resumption of hostilities between Lebanon and Israel on March 2, Israeli attacks on Lebanon have resulted in 2,576 deaths and 7,962 injuries.
