Mali military says it has repelled armed group attacks again
Xinhua News Agency, Dakar, July 4 (Reporter Chen Chen) Bamako news: The Malian Armed Forces said on the 4th that after repelling armed militants in multiple locations earlier that day, the Malian military also repelled two attacks in the central region of the country.
The Malian Armed Forces issued a statement saying that after carrying out attacks in multiple locations that morning, a terrorist armed group regrouped in Kona and launched an attack, which was repelled by the Malian military in coordination with their partner, the "African Legion." Meanwhile, another group of terrorists gathered in Somadougou with the aim of attacking Soufroulay, but was subsequently repelled by the Malian military through a joint air-ground operation.
The statement said that these two strikes dealt a heavy blow to the terrorist armed groups, but did not disclose specific casualty figures.
Media reports indicate that the "African Legion" refers to a Russian paramilitary organization that is currently operating in Mali and other African countries.
Earlier on the 4th, the Malian military issued a statement saying that military positions in several locations, including northern Aguelhok, Anefis, Gao, and central Sévaré, were attacked that day, but all attacks were repelled, and the attacked positions are currently "under complete control" of the military. The military reported that 26 terrorists were killed in Gao and Sévaré, with 1 military personnel killed and 4 injured.
