Media: Israeli Army Establishes New "Yellow Line" in Southern Lebanon Aiming to Implement "Gaza Model"

On April 18, Xinhua News Agency reported from Jerusalem (reporters Pang Xinyi and Chen Junqing) that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) used the term "Yellow Line" for the first time in a statement regarding military operations in southern Lebanon. According to Israeli media reports, the IDF has established a new "Yellow Line" in southern Lebanon, aiming to implement a "Gaza model" in the area.

Previously, the IDF only used the term "Yellow Line" to refer to the ceasefire line in the Gaza Strip. According to the first phase agreement of the Gaza ceasefire, the area outside the "Yellow Line" is under IDF control, and the IDF has repeatedly shot Palestinians who crossed the "Yellow Line."

According to reports from Israel's Channel 12, the new "Yellow Line" refers to a strip of "defensive area" controlled by the IDF, extending about 10 kilometers into Lebanese territory along the temporary border between Israel and Lebanon. Even during the ceasefire, the IDF continues to conduct operations on the Israeli side of the new "Yellow Line."

According to the Israeli news website "New News," the IDF is implementing a "Gaza model" in southern Lebanon, setting up obstacles within the newly defined "Yellow Line buffer zone" to prevent residents from returning to their homes, clearing Hezbollah infrastructure in the area, and strengthening the "multi-layered defense line" extending to the banks of the Litani River in southern Lebanon.

On the same day, the IDF stated in another announcement that it had carried out strikes against armed personnel in several areas of southern Lebanon over the past day. U.S. President Trump announced on the 16th that Lebanon and Israel would observe a 10-day ceasefire. The ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel took effect at midnight local time on the 17th.
