Navy "Silk Road Ark" Hospital Ship Successfully Completes "Health Delivery to Maritime Borders" Mission
Xinhua News Agency, Zhanjiang, June 26 (Liu Yinuo, Tang Lei) The Navy's "Silk Road Ark" hospital ship successfully docked at a military port in Zhanjiang on the 26th, completing a more than 20-day voyage for medical consultations and fulfilling this year's "Health Delivery to Maritime Borders" special medical support mission.
This medical consultation mission adopted a combined model of "island visits + onboard treatment + home medical services," reaching multiple remote islands and reefs, focusing on training injuries, chronic diseases, and common ailments in island areas. It organized health education, psychological counseling, and support for grassroots health workers. The mission received a total of 3,329 patient visits, conducted 793 health check-ups, held 12 health knowledge lectures, and performed 54 surgeries. In addition, the hospital ship also carried out maritime emergency rescue drills.
The "Silk Road Ark" is the second 10,000-ton ocean-going hospital ship independently designed and built by China, primarily responsible for medical rescue and evacuation of injured personnel at sea, international humanitarian medical services, emergency medical rescue for major disasters, and foreign military medical exchanges and cooperation. This is the third time the ship has carried out the "Health Delivery to Maritime Borders" mission since it was commissioned in 2024.
