[Global Times - Global Network Report by reporters Guo Yuandan, special correspondent Xiao Hang, Zhu Jianghai] On the morning of November 6, the Air Force August 1st Flight Demonstration Team flew six J-10 demonstration aircraft in a dense formation at low altitude through the Huangyaguan Great Wall in Tianjin, celebrating the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Air Force.

At around 11 a.m., six J-10 demonstration aircraft flew in formation through the clouds over the Huangyaguan Great Wall in Jizhou, Tianjin, flying low along the ridge line, making four passes over the majestic Jibei Pass, with six colorful smoke trails swirling across the sky.

Military expert Zhang Xuefeng told the Global Times that the valleys around Huangyaguan are crisscrossed with complex terrain and turbulent airflows, making low-altitude flying challenging due to significant air disturbances and limited visibility. Maintaining a stable formation and precise control of flight errors in a dense formation poses considerable tests for pilots' situational awareness, coordination, and emergency response capabilities.

Why choose Huangyaguan? The Huangyaguan Great Wall, built during the Northern Qi dynasty, has a history of over 1,400 years. It guards the Yanshan Pass and controls the throat of Jibei, historically serving as a strategic barrier to protect the capital and defend the homeland, earning the reputation of "the majestic pass of Jibei."

"It is common practice for flight demonstration teams from various countries to fly over famous landmarks and iconic buildings. Such activities can bring the public closer and attract social attention to flight demonstration teams and the construction of the air force," Zhang Xuefeng stated. The flight team's passage over the Great Wall carries profound and unique significance: the Great Wall was an important defensive barrier against foreign invasions in ancient times, while the flight demonstration team represents the People's Air Force, which is the "aerial Great Wall" of the new era, tasked with safeguarding the nation's airspace.

Known as the "national gift and blue sky honor guard," the August 1st Flight Demonstration Team is a vivid reflection of the growth and transformation of the People's Air Force and serves as a moving national business card for a major power's aerospace capabilities. Established for over sixty years, the demonstration team has consistently rooted all stunt maneuvers in combat standards. Each pilot regularly conducts training in aerial refueling, night flying, stunt formations, low-altitude maneuvers, and complex environment coordination, with the spectacular stunt formations themselves being an extension of combat capability refinement.

On-site reporters from the Global Times observed that during this flyover mission, the six demonstration aircraft maintained a tight formation with extreme spacing, flying steadily along the valley route while synchronously releasing smoke, showcasing the August 1st Flight Demonstration Team's superb flying skills through their orderly formation.

Zhang Xuefeng analyzed that the flight demonstration team is an important window for the outside world to observe the construction of the People's Air Force. The updates and developments in the team's equipment reflect the continuous progress of the overall equipment system of the People's Air Force; the pilots' superb formation skills and training levels are also a direct manifestation of the air force's continuously improving combat training capabilities. "With the simultaneous advancement of equipment construction and training levels, the People's Air Force is capable of responding to various aerial threats and achieving victory in combat. Meanwhile, the warplanes flying over the majestic pass vividly demonstrate the People's Air Force's spirited and combat-ready demeanor."

After landing, pilot Cha Xiufeng, who executed the mission, was still filled with excitement. He stated, "What we flew over was not just the valleys and mountains between the Yanshan range, but also the homeland that our predecessors defended with blood; what we left behind was not just the fleeting smoke trails in the sky, but the mission traces of safeguarding the peace of hundreds of millions of people and defending the integrity of our nation's airspace."

It was reported that this flyover by the August 1st Flight Demonstration Team over the Huangyaguan Great Wall was coordinated with the Zhuhai drone light show and the subsequent "Red Eagle" flight demonstration team's flyover in Changchun, presenting a multi-point, three-dimensional display that showcases the People's Air Force's determination to soar into the blue sky and fight, highlighting its mission to safeguard national aerospace security.
