Rapid Cycle Delivery of Multiple Aircraft and Troops: A Visit to the Type 071 Amphibious Transport Dock

The new type 071 comprehensive landing ship Yimengshan, independently developed by our country, has formed a series of combat capabilities since its commissioning ten years ago.

Reporter Liu JiangRui: I am currently in the dock of the Yimengshan ship. This large "belly" can simultaneously accommodate several air-cushion landing craft and dozens of armored equipment. As a comprehensive landing ship designed independently by our country, the 071 type comprehensive landing ship, compared to the 072 type, can travel further, move faster, and carry more, becoming a symbol of the navy's transition from near-coastal defense to far-sea defense. Over the past ten years, the Yimengshan ship has completed multiple joint exercises with the three armed forces, regularly undertaking combat readiness patrols in the Taiwan Strait, and last year it even went abroad, visiting Cambodia, Singapore, and Thailand in Southeast Asia, showcasing the image of a major power navy.

Yimengshan Ship Dou Zhiwei: As the first 071 type comprehensive landing ship in the East China Sea, the Yimengshan ship completed its combat capability generation in the year it was commissioned, regularly participating in combat readiness duties in the Taiwan Strait. Over the past ten years, it has not only fully adapted to domestic air-cushion boats, helicopters, and amphibious armored vehicles but has also achieved systematic maturity and intelligent upgrades.

As the first lighting assistance technician on the ship, Liu Heng has served on the Yimengshan ship for ten years, witnessing over a dozen types and more than two thousand aircraft take off and land from this deck while standing on the control tower.

Yimengshan Ship Zheng Guodu: From the enhancement of single-ship capabilities to the generation of system capabilities, from the initial single aircraft launch and recovery to the rapid cycle delivery of multiple aircraft types and services, the Yimengshan ship has now achieved a leap from manned to unmanned, from two-dimensional to three-dimensional, and from near-coastal to far-sea operations. In the future, we will continue to form combat synergy with more and more partners.
