Russian Chief of General Staff: 85% of the Strategic Stronghold of Donetsk, Horlivka, Has Been Controlled by Russia
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on May 16 that the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia and First Deputy Minister of Defense, Gerasimov, inspected the "Western" Group of Forces and stated in his speech that 85% of the area of Liman (referred to as Lyman by the Ukrainian side) in the Donetsk region is under the control of the Russian military, and urban combat is still ongoing.
He pointed out that the Russian "Western" Group of Forces is launching offensives within a responsibility area of approximately 350 kilometers, and after fully controlling the Luhansk region, is advancing westward towards Kharkiv Oblast.
There has been no response from the Ukrainian side at this time.
