Spain condemns unilateral U.S.-Israel military action

Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez on Saturday rejected what he described as “unilateral” military action by the United States and Israel, urging immediate de-escalation and renewed diplomatic dialogue following escalating military exchanges involving Iran.

In a statement published on the social media platform X, Sánchez said the recent strikes contributed to rising instability and warned that continued escalation could deepen regional tensions. The remarks came as military operations and retaliatory attacks continued across parts of the Middle East.

“We reject the unilateral military action of the United States and Israel, which represents an escalation and contributes to a more uncertain and hostile international order,” Sánchez said in the statement.

He added that Spain also condemned actions carried out by Iran and its military institutions, stating: “We also reject the actions of the Iranian regime and the Revolutionary Guard. We cannot allow another prolonged and devastating war in the Middle East.”

Sánchez called for an immediate reduction in tensions, saying, “We demand immediate de-escalation and full respect for international law.”

He further emphasized the need for diplomacy, stating: “It is time to resume dialogue and achieve a lasting political solution for the region.”

Spain’s position highlights divisions among Western allies regarding the use of force and reflects broader European Union concerns about regional stability, energy security, and civilian risk associated with prolonged military confrontation.

Spain has not announced military measures connected to the situation, and the statement focused exclusively on diplomatic messaging and calls for restraint.
