Sodari is located about 200 kilometers northwest of El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan State in central Sudan, and is a vital transportation route connecting the central region of Sudan with the western Darfur region, making its strategic position important.
Recently, conflicts between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces have escalated in three states of the Kordofan region. Since July of this year, the Sudanese Armed Forces have launched a series of large-scale offensives, recovering several areas in North Kordofan State.
