New Danish-Norwegian joint venture will expand sovereign military aviation sustainment capacity and strengthen defence readiness.

Copenhagen, 21 October 2026 – Terma and Kongsberg Aviation Maintenance Services (KAMS) have officially launched Defence Aviation Services, a new Danish-Norwegian joint venture established to strengthen military aviation sustainment capacity in Denmark and support growing Nordic and allied requirements.

The launch was marked at a reception at the Norwegian Ambassador’s residence in Copenhagen, bringing together representatives from the Danish and Norwegian defence communities and industry.

“The European security situation calls for greater aviation sustainment capacity. Through Defence Aviation Services, we can take on more maintenance work, free military personnel for operational tasks, and build the sovereign capability Denmark and its allies will increasingly require,” says Oscar Cosman Brøndum, Interim CEO, Defence Aviation Services.

Building sovereign aviation sustainment capacity

Defence Aviation Services brings together complementary Danish and Norwegian expertise in military aviation. Terma contributes its long-standing experience supporting the Danish Armed Forces, while KAMS brings decades of maintenance, repair and overhaul expertise from supporting military aircraft fleets and systems in Norway.

KAMS’ experience includes support to both modern and legacy platforms, including the F-35, P-8 and F-16, as well as helicopters and aircraft engines, supported by logistics and training services.

The joint venture will deliver maintenance, repair and overhaul services for military airborne platforms, while building the personnel, competence and industrial capacity required to meet growing sustainment needs.

Defence Aviation Services will:

  •     Deliver maintenance, repair and overhaul services for military airborne platforms

  •     Strengthen security of supply and defence readiness in Denmark and across the Nordic region

  •     Develop highly skilled personnel and long-term sovereign industrial competence

  •     Create a foundation for closer Nordic and allied cooperation around shared military platforms

“The launch of Defence Aviation Services reflects a shared belief that future defence challenges are best addressed through allied cooperation and strong national industrial capabilities. Building on KAMS’ decades of experience supporting Norwegian military aviation, we are proud to join forces with Terma to help meet growing sustainment requirements, support common aircraft fleets and strengthen defence readiness across the Nordic region,” says Øyvind Kolset, Chairman, KAMS Board of Directors.

From cooperation to operational capacity

The establishment of Defence Aviation Services comes as European nations are increasing defence investment and placing greater emphasis on readiness, security of supply and the ability to sustain military capabilities over time.

For Denmark and its allies, this creates a growing requirement not only for new platforms, but for sufficient industrial capacity, skilled personnel and long-term access to maintenance and support throughout their operational life.

“Our ambition with Defence Aviation Services goes beyond creating additional maintenance capacity. We are building a long-term Nordic sustainment capability around shared military platforms, strengthening security of supply and enabling Denmark and its allies to operate more effectively together,” says Henriette Hallberg Thygesen, Terma CEO.

With the company now launched, Defence Aviation Services is building its capabilities in Denmark to support military aircraft fleets across the Nordic region and allied nations – turning Danish-Norwegian industrial cooperation around shared platforms into greater sustainment capacity, stronger security of supply and increased operational availability.
