The 6th Batch of Chinese Peacekeeping Helicopter Unit to Abyei Completes UN Troop Rotation Transport Mission

On the 27th local time, the 6th batch of Chinese peacekeeping helicopter detachment to Abyei successfully completed the transportation task for the rotation of the Vietnamese engineering battalion of the United Nations Interim Security Force in Abyei after three days of continuous efforts.

This rotation transportation task is an important support mission for the phased troop adjustment of the UN Interim Security Force in Abyei. The 6th batch of Chinese peacekeeping helicopter detachment to Abyei has dispatched helicopters a total of 20 times, with a total flight duration of 25 hours and a cumulative flight distance of over 4,200 kilometers, safely transporting 220 personnel from the Vietnamese peacekeeping engineering battalion and 4.3 tons of various supplies and equipment.

The meteorological environment in the Abyei region is complex and changeable, posing great challenges for the formation's flight operations, material transfer, and precise takeoff and landing. The command group of the detachment scientifically coordinated the tasks, monitored weather changes in real-time, and dynamically assessed the airspace situation. Each flight crew flexibly adjusted flight routes and operational plans, accurately avoiding dangerous weather areas, refining takeoff, cruising, and landing processes, and meticulously carried out aircraft maintenance, ground support, and safety control work, successfully completing the transportation task for the rotation of the Vietnamese peacekeeping engineering battalion.

Passed the military capability assessment of the UN Interim Security Force in Abyei

Also in Abyei, the 3rd batch of Chinese rapid response detachment to Abyei recently passed the military capability assessment of the United Nations Interim Security Force in Abyei with excellent results. This is the first comprehensive assessment of the military capabilities of the Chinese peacekeeping rapid response detachment by the UN Interim Security Force in Abyei.

This military capability assessment involved over 120 items across 11 areas, including combat readiness training, personnel administration, civil-military coordination, and logistical support. At the assessment site, group members reviewed the operational status of the peacekeeping rapid response detachment, listened to reports from various departments, and examined relevant software materials. Subsequently, the assessment team randomly selected four subjects for on-site practical exercises: establishing checkpoints, riot control, emergency reinforcement, and casualty evacuation, focusing on testing the command and control, troop coordination, and comprehensive support capabilities of the rapid response detachment.

Throughout the exercise, the personnel of the rapid response detachment demonstrated strong skills and solid work ethic, with smooth command and efficient, professional handling of situations, receiving unanimous praise from the assessment team.
