The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that the Russian military has launched a large-scale strike against Ukraine.
On June 2, Xinhua News Agency reported from Moscow (Reporter Xu Weikai) that the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on the 2nd that the Russian Armed Forces launched a large-scale strike against Ukraine from the evening of the 1st to the early morning of the 2nd, utilizing various types of air-based, ground-based, and sea-based long-range precision-guided weapons, including hypersonic ballistic missiles and drones. The targets included Ukrainian defense industrial enterprises, fuel storage and transportation facilities, and military airports.
The report stated that in the precision-guided weapon strikes targeting Kyiv, 10 enterprises producing attack drones and other military products were hit, and three local recruitment centers of the Ukrainian military were damaged. In addition, several Ukrainian military enterprises in areas outside Kyiv, such as Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Sumy, Khmelnytskyi, and Poltava, were also affected, and the supporting infrastructure of six military airports of the Ukrainian military was simultaneously destroyed.
The report mentioned that the tactical aviation, attack drones, missile troops, and artillery of the Russian Armed Forces struck training grounds, long-range drone launch sites, and temporary deployment points of the Ukrainian military and foreign mercenaries in 133 regions of Ukraine.
The report also stated that since the beginning of the special military operation, the Russian military has destroyed a total of 671 Ukrainian aircraft, 284 helicopters, 154,703 drones, 661 air defense missile systems, 29,581 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, and 1,729 multiple launch rocket system vehicles.
According to information from the Ukrainian side, as of noon on the 2nd, the large-scale attack launched by Russia from the evening of the 1st to the early morning of the 2nd has resulted in 18 deaths, with 6 and 12 fatalities in Kyiv and Dnipro respectively, and power outages in some areas of Ukraine. Ukrainian President Zelensky posted on social media that over 500 personnel from the Ukrainian State Emergency Service have been deployed to respond to the large-scale attack launched by Russia.
