The Second Shanghai Cooperation Organization Young and Middle-aged Officers Exchange Event Concludes

Xinhua News Agency, Shanghai, July 1 (Mi Siyuan, Fang Shuyang) The closing ceremony of the second Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Young Officers Exchange Program was held in Shanghai on July 1. This exchange program is an important measure for China to implement practical cooperation in the field of defense and security within the SCO framework.

On July 1, coinciding with the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, young officers and defense officials from 16 countries, including SCO member states, observer states, and dialogue partner countries, along with representatives from the SCO Secretariat, visited the Memorial Hall of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

This exchange program lasted from June 25 to July 1, with experts from the Academy of Military Sciences, National Defense University, and the Eurasian Research Institute of the China Institute of International Studies giving lectures and organizing discussions on themes such as "Practicing the 'Shanghai Spirit' and Building a Community with a Shared Future in the SCO," "Four Global Initiatives and Regional Defense Security Cooperation," and "Development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization."

During the event, 33 representatives from various countries visited the teaching and research facilities of the National University of Defense Technology, toured the "Tianhe" supercomputer, the BeiDou satellite navigation system, and the Ocean Dynamics Physical Simulation Laboratory, experiencing the vitality of China's technological innovation; visited a certain base of the Chinese Navy in Shanghai, boarded the Xianggan ship, and closely felt the pulse of the development of the Chinese military; and traveled to Chunhua Town, Changsha County, Changsha City, Hunan Province, to personally experience the achievements of Chinese-style modernization.

Colonel Vasily Kolpakov, chief expert of the International Military Cooperation Department of the Russian Ministry of Defense, stated that the exchange program provided a rare opportunity for military officers from various countries to exchange views on regional security situations and discuss countermeasures. Standing at a new starting point for the 25th anniversary of the SCO, countries should continue to promote the "Shanghai Spirit," deepen practical cooperation in the defense field, and create a better future together.
