The U.S. military claims to have cleared mines from the international shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz.

On August 27 local time, General Brad Cooper, commander of the U.S. Central Command, stated that the U.S. military has successfully cleared the mines laid by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps months ago in the international shipping lanes of the Strait of Hormuz, and there is currently no threat from Iranian mines to the internationally recognized navigation routes.

Cooper indicated that over the past few months, the U.S. military has utilized Navy divers, Navy SEALs, as well as air and naval forces from the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps to clear mines in the Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) channel.

He noted that in the past few months, the U.S. military has assisted nearly 1,500 commercial vessels in passing through the Strait of Hormuz, which have collectively transported nearly 750 million barrels of crude oil into the global energy market. Since the resumption of the maritime blockade against Iran in mid-July, Iran has exported zero oil from its ports, and no vessels have entered or exited Iranian ports without U.S. permission, with only humanitarian vessels allowed to pass.

Cooper also stated that since the resumption of the blockade, the U.S. military has deployed over 20 warships and hundreds of aircraft, forcing 75 vessels attempting to breach the blockade to turn back, and rendering 3 vessels that refused to comply with orders inoperable.
