On July 20, Xinhua News Agency reported from Washington (reporters Huang Qiang and Xu Jianmei) that the U.S. Central Command announced on social media that, following the directive of President Trump, the U.S. military launched a new round of strikes against Iran at 4 PM Eastern Time on the 20th (4 AM Beijing Time on the 21st) to "further weaken Iran's military capability to attack commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz." This marks the 10th consecutive day of military strikes by the U.S. military against Iran since the 11th.

According to a report by CBS News on the 20th, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell confirmed that multiple attacks by Iran targeting U.S. military bases in the Middle East since July 7 have resulted in nearly a hundred U.S. personnel being "identified as having sustained varying degrees of injuries."

Earlier that day, Trump posted on social media, suggesting that the U.S. military would launch a strong retaliatory action against Iran following recent casualties. Trump threatened, "For every American soldier killed by Iran, they will pay a price many times greater."

The U.S. Central Command confirmed on the 18th that two U.S. personnel were killed on the 17th in Jordan due to Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks, and another person is missing. The next day, the U.S. military announced that one U.S. personnel was killed on the 18th in northern Iraq while detonating a downed Iranian drone.
